Summer Volunteer Programme
Our summer volunteer programme is underway! Christmas parades, the Project Island Song Urupukapuka Family Fun Day and Waitangi Day. We've also got our boatie bag campaign at boat ramps, marinas and on the water.
Project Island Song is on the lookout for volunteers this summer to rove the islands and talk to people about Project Island Song.
Volunteering is a fun way of participating in a local conservation project and meeting other like-minded people, off the beaten track, so to speak. It’s immensely satisfying.
Volunteers are given a full induction on all aspects of the project and will receive regular email udpates. You are provided with a backpack of information - from biosecurity to the native flora and fauna. We make sure you have everything you need to talk to island visitors about the birds and other wildlife, planting, biosecurity and coming events.
Another Project Island Song activity is our ‘boatie bag’ campaign. These goodie bags contain valuable material for boaties in addition to information on our pest free islands: rubbish collection and tide charts, floating key ring, fish measurement charts etc. We need volunteers to give these bags out at boat ramps, marinas and on the water.
Full induction will be provided.
