In this series, we are celebrating the many fantastic businesses that have chosen to become members of Project Island Song. By signing up for membership, businesses become an active participant in the restoration of the islands of Ipipiri, helping our region and our people to thrive.
Bay of Islands Lodge is a small, family-owned and operated lodge based in Paihia, providing comfortable, welcoming, and affordable accommodation for visitors to the Bay of Islands.
The Lodge is committed to caring for the local community and environment, and became a business member of Project Island Song in 2024. Owners Travis and Paige took a moment to tell us why they decided to get involved.
We love the Bay of Islands and knowing that the majority of our guests head out to experience them during their stay, it made it a no-brainer to support an organisation that does so much positive work for the wildlife and biodiversity of our islands.
Supporting Project Island Song is a small contribution we can make as a business to ensure our beautiful islands are thriving for locals and tourists alike to enjoy them for many years to come. It also gives us an opportunity as a partner to promote the great work being done on our islands to our guests and share our pride in this amazing place we are lucky enough to grow up and live in.
We have been involved in multiple beach clean-ups locally here in Paihia and with a 2-year-old daughter and another on the way, we hope to have more time in the future to contribute and get them involved. We also love to share some of the Project’s stories with our guests that are interested and encourage them to do their bit whilst visiting to protect our natural environment and contribute where they can.
Being a small part of the greater picture of this project gives us as a business a sense of pride knowing we are contributing to the long-term protection of our natural environment. Our guests travel from all over New Zealand and globally to experience the incredible nature we have here in the Bay of Islands and we know how important it is to protect it for future generations.
